I love seeing my clients achieve their goals. I listen to what an individual wants out of their supervision, combine that with appropriate exercise prescription for the individual and their skill/capacity. Everyone is different, and the client-centred focus and detailed approach to their presentation is how we tailor our exercise prescription.

In 2012 I started in the health and fitness industry as a personal trainer. That led to studying exercise science, and finally finding my true passion in the allied health world, Exercise Physiology (EP).

I love this job. Helping people achieve their goals, and being a part of their exercise journey is personally, a highly rewarding experience.

I have always been interested in sport. During my sporting career, through the many injuries that are a natural part of elite sport, and in leadership positions I was fortunate enough to hold, I found I was drawn to supporting and motivating individuals, and increasingly in rehab and return to sport protocols.

As much as I enjoyed succeeding in different sports, my most significant learnings were from my injuries and setbacks. I value my time in sport, running internationally in USA 2010 and playing AFL football for two state Victorian teams in 2007 and 2011. In some ways I value my lower back injury that unknowingly at the time, started my interest in clinical populations and eventually life as an EP.

To be able to go on their exercise journey with them, support them and watch them improve is what is so special about EP.

I believe the behaviour change must be meaningful and consistent enough for short- and long-term change. The exercise prescription holds great benefit, although the best program won’t succeed if the individual doesn’t understand and execute correctly.

The clinic at The Exercise Physiology Centre is set up to offer provision for clinical and the athletic population. The focus is to ultimately get fitter, stronger and increase confidence through exercise.

My specific interests include prescribing exercise for individuals with musculoskeletal injuries, mental health conditions, and working in conjunction with specialists and surgeons for pre- and post-surgery rehabilitation.

It’s important to build a trusting and collaborative professional relationship with all of my clients, then work side-by-side as co-pilots of their therapy to help achieve their goals.

Throughout my career working as an Exercise Physiologist in the public and private hospital sector, I have honed my clinical strengths, which include Parkinson’s Disease, cardiac rehabilitation and working with older adults.

During an assessment, it’s important to understand a person’s story and what is important to them to help drive specific and meaningful goals. It also helps to direct the treatment and mode of delivery for each client.

I continue to focus my specialisation in aged care, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.  I am also passionate about developing junior and student exercise physiologists.
